Rapper’s delight, indeed. In her new book, “Straight From the Source,” Kim Osorio is claiming to have bedded a who’s who of hip-hop stars. But the former Source editor in chief says her dalliance with Nas soured when “it was no longer acceptable to communicate via text messages.” She also says she made sweet music with 50 Cent - despite calling him “greasy convict.” “He gave me the attention I needed,” the editrix writes. “Put your imagination to use.”

So just how serious is the “unspecified illness” that got Janet Jackson rushed to a Montreal hospital Monday night? Not serious enough for her fiance, Jermaine Dupri, to cancel his party plans. The hip-hopper reveled alongside T.I. until 2 a.m. at Patron’s Music in Motion Tour Party at Marquee, even though Ms. Jackson had taken ill at a sound check and canceled her concert less than an hour before showtime. At least Jermaine partied for a purpose: The tour has raised over $75,000 to help rebuild New Orleans.

Will Beyoncé make her deadline today? The singer’s new album was due at her label Wednesday morning in order to make an announced Nov. 18 release date, but insiders tell us there have been problems. “It’s not going to be completed,” said a source close to folks who’ve been working on the CD. “She’s got to get it out early in the fourth quarter, when there’s so much competition among artists.”

Both Jenny McCarthy and Amanda Peet have impressive credits attached to their names, but M.D. isn’t one of them. But that hasn’t stopped them from raging a war in the press over childhood vaccines.

Couldn’t get enough of Paris Hilton’s debut album? You’re in luck. The reality star-turned-singer debuted a single from her upcoming album on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS FM radio show on Tuesday. “My BFF,” which doubles as the theme song for Hilton’s MTV series, “Paris Hilton’s My New BFF,” is the first tune released from the 27-year-old’s as-yet-untitled sophomore album.

When Lou Reed takes a walk on the wild side, he’d like the New York street he’s strolling on to bear his name. The 66-year-old Brooklyn-born rocker revealed to New York magazine that he hopes a future mayor will recognize his contributions to the city by naming a city street after him. “Lou Reed Way would be nice,” he tells the mag’s Oct. 6 issue.

THE Ocean Drive mansion where Gianni Versace was gunned down on the front steps in 1997 now features a 120-seat restaurant. Telecom gazillionaire Peter Loftin, who paid $19 million for the property, opened Loftin’s 1116 Ocean last weekend, and one of his first customers was Jon Bon Jovi and his wife, Dorothea. Loftin is also renting out 10 rooms in the mansion at $5,000 a night.

Juliana Hatfield, the author of the new memoir “When I Grow Up,” was an indie rock star back when that music defined a slacker generation. It seems there is no artifact connected to the British post-punk band Joy Division too ghoulish for public consumption: the notes and diary entries of the band’s manager, Rob Gretton, are to be published this month, The Guardian reported. Mr. Gretton, who died in 1999 of a heart attack, kept copious notes when he managed Joy Division and its spinoff band, New Order, which was formed after the original lead singer, Ian Curtis, committed suicide in 1980. Mr. Gretton’s widow, Lesley Gilbert, plans to publish them as a book called “1 Top Class Manager.” The notes reveal that Joy Division considered many other names for itself, including Voices Crying, Dharma Bums, the Radical Jesuits and Man Ray. The band also considered giving its 1979 album “Unknown Pleasures” titles like “Kinetic Outtake” and “Convulsive Therapy.”
