Mickey Rourke put a lot of work into The Wrestler and he’ll be damned if the Oscar he deserves gets snatched by another greasy ’80s bad boy who already has one. The Daily Beast reports that Rourke has been bitching about Sean Penn’s performance in Milk to anyone who’ll listen, sending one unnamed Hollywood exec this doozy of a text.
Look seans an old friend of mine and i didnt buy his performance at all—thought he did an average pretend acting like he was gay besides hes one of the most homophobic people i kno [sic]
This from a guy who threatened to break the legs of a “f****t” in public last month. To be fair, Penn did recently call Sean Hannity a “butt boy,” and gay rights activists have decried his fondness for anti-homosexual dictators. Maybe Rourke’s annoyed that Penn gets props for making out with James Franco while no one cared when he held hands (oooh!) with lover Stephen Baldwin in 1995’s Fall Time. Hug it out, guys.
