As a fellow asian myself I find this photo offensive. No matter how famous you are or how young it is no excuse. The reason you don`t understand is because you are ignorant to the racism that goes on against Asians in North American society. As a small child, groups of white and black kids would come up to me during recess and slant their eyes in this manner with their tongues out, whilst calling me ching chong, and singing racist songs, every single day for over 2 years. They weren`t just fooling around either, you could really see the hatred in their eyes. Almost every Asian male I`ve ever talked to from my generation have had a similar experience to this growing up in Canada and the U.S. People in Asia do not act this way to foreigners and non-Asians, it is against our customs, we realize that they are new here and we tend to try to be patient and understanding of them. Miriam, just because you are black it does not mean you can understand something like this, only an Asian growing up in a racist North American society can understand this. Many of the younger Asians also do not understand this as well since they did not grow up when racism towards Asians was even more prevalent.
