A heartbreakingly emotional performance by Jennifer Hudson and an energetic collaboration between a very pregant M.I.A. and today’s best rappers (Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, T.I. and Kanye West) made the 51st annual Grammy Awards much less boring than we had anticipated. Another factor contributing to our gawking pleasure: artists wearing hideous outfits, from Cyndi Lauper’s hooker-esque fishnets to M.I.A.’s Oompa Loompa-like smock. You rocked that banana. And what a beautiful pear you have. I’d love to have a nibble. Your peach was looking mighty tasty too. Just needed a dollop of cream. Clever reinterpretation of Carmen Miranda and Josephine Baker . You totally have the legs to be a Rockette. I enjoyed your choreography. I’d say your self discipline to rehearse and rest up paid off. Well done!
You’re still a big winner in my opinion, and anyone who thinks your 15 minutes is over is letting their personal beliefs obscure their perception of your substantial talent, notable abilities, substantial intelligence, keen business sense, tenacity, and obvious mass public appeal. I think you have the whole package. Hopefully you are grounded enough to traverse the gauntlet of celebrity. Keep making smart choices. The public can practically induce a train wreck.
