Lily Allen: ‘I’d Think I Was A Tw*t Too’

A year ago, Lily Allen was sporting a rubbish pink hairdo, getting carried drunk out of awards dos and busied herself with celebrity feuds. Now she’s got a single and album at number one in the UK, she’s looking super-cute and her hair is back to brunette. Thank heavens.  But with her trademark honesty, Lily admits all wasn’t rosy in the garden and she did take advantage of some of fame’s less-legal perks.

“So much stuff is written about you and you look at it all with these photographs and you think: ‘Everyone must think I’m a total tw*t.’ I don’t ever think I’m different to anybody else. But suddenly I’m this cartoon of a party girl. If I didn’t know me I’d think I was a tw*t too. So you go out and you get off your head. You get invited to parties and there’s free drink and drugs. Well you do, don’t you? What other 21-year-old wouldn’t do that?” she tells the UK’s Live magazine.

A bit later on, Lily also shrugs off the idea of quitting drugs forever, saying, “You can never say never, just not now.” Whereas most famous people say one thing to the press, then do something totally different in private (until the inevitable tabloid scandal, rehab visit and “I’m out of the dark place now” comeback interview), you’ve got to applaud Lily’s ability to tell it like it is. NOW MAGAZINE HAS PRINTED A RETRACTION! IT EXPLAINS THAT THEY WENT INTO LILY ALLEN”S HOUSE TO TAKE SOME PICTURES BEFORE AN INTERVIEW, BUT!! THE PICTURES WERE NOT REALLY THE INSIDE OF HER HOUSE, AND THAT A REAL INTERVIEW, NEVER TOOK PLACE. LILY ALLEN HAS EXPLAINED IN THE PAST THAT SHE WILL ”NOT DO AN INTERVIEW, WITH ANYONE IF IT IS A PRINTED ARTICLE. NOW MAGAZINE EXTENDED THEY’RE APOLOGY’S TO LILY ALLEN, HOWEVER THE ACTUAL RETRACTION WAS NOT EXTENDED ACROSS THE INTERNET, AND MAY BE DIFFICULT TO FIND, BUT IT IS REAL!
