Miss California Embarrasses Herself
We didn’t tune in to last night’s Miss USA pageant, as those things are normally boring and the best parts - the falls and vapidity - always make it onto YouTube. Last night’s show was no different, and today we were thrilled to enjoy this clip of Miss California, Carrie Prejean, stumbling her way through an inarticulate response to judge Perez Hilton’s question about legalizing gay marriage.
We’ll leave her personal beliefs alone (even though, ya know, we disagree) but just watching her call heterosexual marriage “opposite marriage” makes the clip worth watching over and over again. Here’s a transcript of her answer:
“Well, I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be between a man and a woman. Thank you very much.”

It does not help that she was asked that question by a gay man. At least she answered with her own personal opinion and wasn’t kissing up to the judges like the rest of the contestants. She did have trouble answering it though, she didn’t want to be offensive…that’s completely understandable.

I don’t understand why everyone is making such a big deal out of it! She stated an opinion like your SUPPOSED to. INSTEAD of kissing the judges !(%__~%!#@_^(+! es. Sheesh.

i agree with miss cali cause some of us have morals we do the right thing unlike that stupid @$$ perez hilton he asked for her opinion he didnt say tell me what i want to hear i give a big hand to miss cali for doing what was right

um, the whole point that everyone is getting upset about is that it is fine that she has her own opinions, but she did not answer that question at all.
he asked her should the states follow vermont…..
she answered that she doens’t believe in same sex marriage.
he didn’t ask her, her opinion on same sex marriage he asked her about the states following suits.
she was probably nervous, and didn’t think about the question fully. it’s normal. but neither party should have gone on the defense about the reason that she wasn’t picked. i truly think they didn’t pick her because she did not answer the actual question.

I think everyone has a right to their own opinion and she answered in what she believes is right.Everyone may not agree with her .Which is fine,but remember that is your opinion and your beliefs.You should not judge or critcize her for that.What is wrong with some of you people???????

She shouldn’t be embarassed at all. She answered the question the way she believed not by everyone else’s opinion. I’m sure majority of the other contestants would have answered the opposite just to get favored by everyone.

Honestly, at first I was pissed but now that I watch it again I think she was very honest and polite with her awnser. Good for you Carrie. Everything she did after this though has been pretty idiotic. Especially on Larry King…I wanted to punch her right in the nose.
