Although the official announcement of this year’s Playmate of the Year will be done by Hugh Hefner at an official ceremony tonight at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas, Miss March 2008 Ida Ljungqvist reportedly already has the title in the bag.
“Ida won! She is so excited!” a pal of the stunner tells The FABlife.
Ida, 27, was born in Tanzania to a Swedish mother and Tanzanian father. She is the first Playmate born in Africa and is fluent in English, Swedish, and Swahili.
But Ida’s new fame does not come without scandal. Ida recently went through a messy divorce with ex Joshua Lang, with whom she reportedly had a custody battle over their pet chihuahua Bonnie.

Jackie…did you know that Hugh Hefner was one of the main supporters of the civil rights movement in the late 1950s and early 1960s, he gave money and put many African American entertainers for on his show and they performed at the Playboy Clubs? Based on your comment, I don’t think so. Before you want to just throw out insults on someone who actually stood behind black people when it wasn’t encouraged or politically correct to do so, please take some time to learn more about who you’re insulting.
Now, I don’t know how I feel altogether about his standard of beauty: mainly unrealistic ideal of body porportion and plastic surgery, but I do not think, in any way, this man who so strongly supported the black community is a racist.

By the way, Renee Tenison was the first playmate of the year, she is unmistakably a beautiful African American woman, this one is the first one of AFRICAN descent, not African American.

She is a cute girl and she look just as good as any of the other playmates, if not better. But she is biracial. Her skin is almost just as white as the other playmates. I would only be impressed with a darker skin female(Gabrielle Union or Lauryn Hill skin color). Then you can’t confuse her with being anything else, but black. I agree with Jackie…Of course we come in all shades and colors but why follow in the footsteps of the media’s perception of African or African American. The majority of African women are women of dark color and regal in appearance..(beautiful). The majority of African American woman are the same. But, due to the media we only get to see and the lighter skin sistah’s. As for money and jobs if a available for black women, they are given to the light skin women. Grab a magazine, view the celebrity sites, look at the entertainers and recording artist. Just recently, “Puffy” had auditions in Atlanta for “light skin, mixed, latin american or white women only. When we have this happen to us it just let us know that some will never be satisfied with where they came from and who they are. But anyway.. in a few more generations we all will be a true melting pot anyway.

First of all being the first black woman playmate is not an accomplishment……being the first black president is. I must say as people we African Americans have to stop the cycle of what was placed in our head to divide of during slavery days of light skinned the house negros and black skinned the field negros.
