Milla Jovovich Opens Up About Career, Kids, Marriage

Milla-Jovovich

There aren’t a lot of child models turned child actors turned kickass action stars out there, but thats exactly what Milla Jovovich is. Jovovich’s career has spanned over twenty years (is it crazy that we remember seeing a Seventeen magazine with her in it when she was 12?), and the 33-year-old admits that she has “a 45-year-old’s career,” which sounds about right. Most famous for inducing nerdgasms in films like The Fifth Element and the Resident Evil franchise, she pretty much kicks ass on and off screen. In a recent interview with the Guardian, Jovovich discussed everything from her turn as a child star to being a mom and soon-to-be-wife.

  • On the toll being an action star has taken on her modeling shoots: “The knuckles? They’re all cut up. They used to be really soft, but they can’t use them any more. They use someone else’s.”
  • On why she finally decided to get married to director Paul Anderson: “Having a baby. That pretty much decided it. So we don’t have a little bastard running around.”
  • On being a child actor: “I was no Dakota Fanning. What are you going to do? I was one of those annoying child actresses. I didn’t know who I was. So I didn’t know how to be anything else. Listen, there are some people that are born with talent. I’m not one of those people.”
  • On her star-making nerd oeuvre: “Resident Evil started out as this fun project. I went in for it as a joke. ‘Sure, I’ll go make an action movie,’ I thought, ‘This’ll be cool, because my brother loves the video game so much.’ It’s turned into a steady job.”
  • On her life, currently: “And now we have three weeks to get [the wedding] all together. I’m a little overwhelmed. I’ve got to finish the press for this film, get married, then I’m off to Toronto to kick some zombie butt.”
