Joss Stone Riffs On Drugs, Amy And Being A “Diva B*tch”

Joss Stone has opinions, people, and don’t we know it. The singer opened fire on Lily Allen last week and has now made that ill-advised dis look tame. In a journalist’s dream interview - it’s stuffed full of fantastic quotes - Joss holds forth on just about everything. Including Amy Winehouse (as if she doesn’t want to make any more friends, thanks).
- On avoiding the drugs trap: “You’ve got to have a lack of intelligence to do that to yourself. I think it’s stupid. Amy’s music is beautiful, her lyrics are f**king great, but she has to start loving the music more than she loves herself and the drugs.”
- On, er, taking drugs herself: “I smoke weed, but I don’t think it’s really a drug. It’s more of a herb. I don’t regret saying that at all. I think everyone smokes weed and people who say they don’t are lying! Weed has been given this evil stamp, but how is it dangerous? It’s going to make you laugh your arse off? You might go to sleep? I think alcohol is much more harmful.”
- On her ex-boyfriend, Beau Dozier: “He was a bad choice. I was 16, just a kid. It makes me angry because he wasn’t a kid, he was 25. It strikes me as weird that a 25-year-old man would even find a 16 year old attractive. I was a child.”
- On her public persona: “[People] say: ‘Joss Stone - isn’t she that horrible diva bitch?’ Kenny, my guitar player, goes around and does surveys about me and people say: ‘Isn’t she crazy?’ But when he asks them why, they don’t really know.”
Actually, whatever we think of Joss’s pronouncements (where do we even start?), it’s sort of refreshing to see another star refuse to join the media-trained-into-oblivion ranks of certain other celebs. Long may she talk herself into trouble! [Photo: WENN]

=) No judgement! She is right.
Weed is natural, not a man made chemical like meth or coke.

You mean cocain? like, from the coca tree?
how about opiates, heroin.. ?
nothing against weed, don’t know why potheads have to act like frickin potheads though. People might take you more seriously if you knew what you were talking about

Dog %)^&#`~^&+)&)_^_ is natural. Black widows are natural. Mescaline is natural. Although you could classify weed as a herb, it could also very well be classified as a drug, it is completely based on how you use it. Although there is no definition everybody agrees on, it is generally agreed that any substance that when any exogenous (from outside the body)substance, that when absorbed into the body of a living organism, alters functioning. Whether something is toxic or not has nothing to with it being natural. By Katie’s argument morphine would be acceptable, as it is naturally found in nature. Finally, although methamphetamine can do great harm, it is used legally for the treatment of ADHD. Methamphetamine was first thought to be a man made chemical( EVIL!!!!!) but recently it was found to be produced naturally in a tree called Acacia berlandieri,( It’s good for you, it’s all natural). I am not anti-drug, I am just tired of people speaking in ambiguous terms about something they don’t understand.

First of all Matt, as someone who has been diagnosed with ADHD, NO ONE is prescribed methamphetamine. Perhaps your thinking about amphetamine. Similar in some ways, radically different in many ways. Methamphetamine is a popular choice for abuse because it makes you very high, and it is inexpensive next to other drugs, but it reacts with your body in a different way than amphetamine, and it is far more dangerous. Amphetamine can be a powerful tool when used properly, something that doctor’s have decided is not true about meth.
This mistake is like saying caffeine and cocaine are the same thing. Your other point about drugs being “natural” is misleading, too. When people refer to cannabis as being “natural”, they are usually alluding to the fact that other drugs (such as cocaine, heroin, etc) must be extracted and highly refined out of natural materials.
By your logic, almost everything in the world is a drug. Sugar is a drug, Taco Bell is a drug and so on and so forth.
The underlying point is, to say that cannabis is a harmful drug is misinformed and stupid. Any initiative to make people think otherwise is part of an agenda that fails to use science to make their point, and it is hard to blame them, because there is no science that proves anything substantially bad regarding cannabis. In the United States, the government often contradicts itself with politicians taking an opposing viewpoint to collect voters, and science bureaus calling for unfair restrictions to be lifted. The American Medical &$#~_`^$)“~+#_ ociation just released an unprecedented report, urging lawmakers to go as far as to rethink prohibition all together.
Now why would the largest &$#~_`^$)“~+#_ ociation of physicians in the United States advocate the legalization of a drug?

I am sorry Matt-tardblog is hurt by my comments, but many of his/her comments are simply not true. The fact that you have ADHD does not make you knowledgeable on prescription drugs. Pharmaceutical grade methamphetamine goes by the name Desoxyn, so first off, you are plain wrong. I am aware of dextro-amphetamine such as Dexedrine or a racemic formulation such as adderall being used in much the same way as Desoxyn. Methamphetamine is very powerful, and so a therapeutic dose of meth would be lower than a comparable dose of d-amphetamine. Heroine is a semi-synthetic drug. It is Morphine that has been di-acetylated, this is why I chose to use morphine, something found in a reasonably high percentage in raw opium. I consider the small cut in a poppy pod to be reasonably close to natural. My initial post was simply to comment on Stone’s comment about how she does not consider Marijuana to be a drug, and katie’s post that seemed to imply that synthetic drugs were bad BECAUSE they were synthetic and that natural things could not hurt you, a potentially dangerous presumption. If her argument was valid, methamphetamine would be considered safe since it can be natural. I do not want to take a stance on this one way or another, other than saying that as for toxicity, its a matter of concentration as with all things.
Also, I may not have been clear in my explaining that food is not generally considered a drug simply for simplicity reasons. It is true that such things as nutmeg or psilocybin mushrooms may blur the line between food and drugs. To make the definition more clear I would have to add “with the intention to become intoxicated/intent of using it as drug”. I want to once again state that I am not anti-drug/ anti-marijuana, in fact I am a strong advocate of responsible drug use.
