Adam Lambert Assaults The AMAs With Racy Performance

Adam Lambert at the AMAs

Adam Lambert may not have won American Idol, but after his insane performance at the American Music Awards last night, we’re surprised anyone can remember who did. Lambert was an equal opportunity offender throughout, leading dancers on a leash (male), grinding his crotch in their faces (male and female), wedging his hand up a pole dancer’s underwear (female), frenching his keyboard player (male) and making ears bleed (male and female) with his trademark shrieking. Aren’t you glad show producer Dick Clark lived to see this?

Lambert was defiant when discussing the potential uproar with the LA Times. “If it’s gonna be edited, then in a way that’s discrimination. I don’t mean to get political, but Madonna, Britney and Christina weren’t edited. It’s a shame. Female entertainers have been risqué for years. Honestly, there’s a huge double standard…I’m just trying to have a good time onstage. It’s a sexy song. It’s 2009, it’s time to take more risks. It’s about entertainment. People want to be surprised. It’s too bad that people are so scared.” Watch Adam hump and sing “For Your Entertainment” after the jump.

I stopped watching it then. Everyone needs to grow up! Bunch of pervs in this world today. Don’t know how to be sexual without being gross!!

How about a 7 second delay on video as well as audio. That way crap like this could be blacked out as it happens.

I have nothing against homosexuality. But I have alot against my grandchildren (age 9) watching on TV, what should be left in the bedroom or to a more private event.
When you put out something like this on TV, you are bringing disgrace to people who have come out of the closet & are saying to the general public: we are decent, law-abiding, hard working citizens, God-fearing people - just like you.
I am sorry, but one day I told my granddaughter than I ordered 2 copies of Adam’s CD & she said he was gay. I replied ’so what its his great voice I admire & he should be given credit for that alone - what he does at home is his business - I watched him on American Idol - knew he was gay - and am more attracted to his great voice & showmanship.
I received the 2 CD’s (”For your Entertainment” CD), 2 days after this discussion with my granddaughter & it was the same day the AMA awards was on.
I had not listened to the cd yet when I saw his performance on TV that night. And, I was so shocked & thrown off, all I could think about is that I needed to retract my words to my granddaughter.
The day after the awards, she came to visit & saw the cd’s on my desk & said “Oh, I saw him kissing a guy on TV last night, can I listen to his CD?”
My reply was that I saw the show too & that I am returning his CDs because as much as I like his voice, & do not care that he is gay, I did not like what he did during that performance & now I can’t even listen to it his voice without replaying that scene of him grinding his body against a dancers face.
That is more than I can handle & I most certainly do not want my granddaughter remembering such a performance. You can’t vote for Taylor Swift & have a performance like Adam’s in the same content, it just does not jive.
As for discrimination against a male performer who went beyond the limitations of the status quo, yes Madonna, Britney & Christina went out there, but they were not vulgar in their performances. They did one thing - out of the norm - in their performances & they kept on with their songs. We might have overlooked Adam’s ‘face grinding’, but he did not stop there, he kiss two others & put out his finger at the audience & he showed such anger & malice in the process that I’m not sure if he is S & M as well. It was downright contrary.
I love his voice, but I pass, he let his personal emotions take over & showed his true colors & he could have kept them to himself & become a great artist & performer without puting this out. He cannot compare himself to Madonna, Britney or Christina - who are all very conscious in todays day & age about what they do or do not do to sell records - they are now mothers themselves & have to be very carefully not to cross the lines.
Adam doesn’t have to worry about setting an image for his children, but he should have worried about his family, his little cousins, & about the type of public images todays youth look up to.
Adam you need to apologize to all of us & to you’re gay peers. Some of them might be happy you did this, but most are embarrassed & will suffer the consequences of your actions made on public television for all to see. If a person could ever kill their own careers, Adam you just accomplished that in just 15 minutes of fame.
I was all for you & your talent, even when you didn’t win American Idol, I knew you would make it. I bought 2 copies of your CD & now - because of your perfomance on the AMA awards, I am going to return the 2 cd’s because I cannot be ^^(&(!*^%*_&_+* ociated in any way with a person that would put such controversial images out to the public, to todays youth & especially to my granddaughter.
You blew it ! It’ll be a long time before I or others will be able to overcome those images & I’m sure you will be in newspapers & magazines, all over the place - however, it will be for the wrong reason - because you are gay and crazy, not because you have a great voice & are an artist.

  5. QUEENROSERED Says:

I LOVE Adam!! For God’s sakes people….KIDS have enough “idols” already!! What if (by design or choice) we don’t HAVE kids?? Are we ALL going to be forced to listen to/watch Miley and the Jonus Brothers just because of the people that complain and whine about “my poor kids”??? Parent your children and stop rubbing THEM in OUR faces!! AMAs, a family show?? REALLY??? Did you not see Janet Jackson grab a male dancers genitals in the first act of the evening during REAL “primetime”?? NO? How about Rhianna and all the gun-toting soldiers? (what’s that you say….violence is ok, but not anything of a sexual nature?) Still not enough to “warn” you lameass parents? Then what about Eminem and 50 Cent, getting 50% of words “bleeped” but bragging about Slim Shady’s “17 rapes”?ABC put Adam on air well PAST primetime so, what kind of parent lets kids watch all THAT, then is dumb enough to complain and let all the other viewers/commenters know how damn incompetent they are??? Grow UP! Police your children and stop trying to act outraged when clearly, all the other acts preceding Adam AND a PG-14 warning SHOULD have been enough! Keep entertaining us Adam, I will be watching, no complaints here!
