Define “Ready-To-Wear”

Alexander McQueen unveiled his Fall/Winter 2009 ready-to-wear collection in Paris yesterday, and Bjork’s favorite designer did not disappoint those looking for drama. Check out the gallery below for some of the more striking ensembles from his “ironic and illusory exploration of the concept of re-invention.” Mugatu approves.

And where exactly are you supposed to “wear” this to aside from a costume party? The fashion industry’s elite have always lived in their own out-of-touch bubble, but with the global economy being what it is, they better start meeting the real world half way if they want to make it to the next collection.

Wow. Could high fashion be anymore irrelevant…? I think the whole industry needs to be firebombed, left to cool for a few years and then they need to start this `$!^~@`@@&&!`_~+ over.

these are really cool, plus if you take away the crazy headresses and accesories/makeup, the clothing itself is actually not all that unusual. some really beautiful pieces

  8. nathan Says:

This is fantastic, though it seems to be very similar to pieces done by leigh bowery in the late 80s, early 90s.
