Mickey Rourke’s universally considered an Oscar front-runner for The Wrestler, the harrowing new Darren Aronofsky film, which debuted in Hollywood last night. Some people are starting to wonder if he really has a shot at the golden boy, though—especially if he keeps dressing like a cross between Jake LaMotta and Jack Sparrow.
Rourke has always been a little eccentric and flamboyant (actually, a lot), and there’s no reason to expect he’d tone things down when everyone’s paying attention. Besides, with Evan Rachel Wood on the market, he might need a dynamic look to keep her around. As much as he enjoys critical respect, he might enjoy a young girlfriend even more.

Mickey has my vote. He’s unique, original, eccentric, and extraordinarily talented. There’s nobody in Hollywood like him. He’s a rare gem and it’s about time he gets the recognition he deserves.

Mickey is number 1 in my book. He gives his all in every picture he does . Mickey’s performance in the Wrestler is outstanding. I don’t know anyone else who could have played this part. A sure Oscar winner.
