ESPN has promised to stop showing an advertisement starring Shaquille O’Neal after gay rights’ advocates complained about its homophobic content. In the clip, ESPN’s Mike Breen asks Shaq for a “fist kiss” in the company’s RV. Shaq, unnerved by the peculiar turn of phrase, angrily declines and backs away. “No fist kiss, no fist love, no fist hump. None of that. You’re a weirdo man. Stay over there. Fist kiss. Disgusting.” ESPN released an apology almost immediately after receiving the complaint.

We have dozens of executions of the “NBA on ESPN RV Tour” online campaign and none are intended to be offensive to anyone or any community of people. Our intent is to send a positive message about the camaraderie of sports and to do so  as  creatively  as we can. However, we understand your perspective on this ad and would like to apologize to the members of the gay community.  In addition, we have decided to remove the ad from the campaign’s online executions.

As TMZ noted, the tone of the ad was rather ironic. Not just because ESPN has a good diversity rep, but because Shaq has publicly admitted to enjoying analingus from Kobe Bryant. At least that’s how we heard it.

Shaquille O’Neal apparently needs to learn that “no” means “no.” Alexis Miller, an Atlanta hip-hop artist known as MaryJane, just got a restraining order against the NBA star, alleging he threatened her bodily harm and harassed her with vulgar phone calls. According to court documents Shaq threatened to “blackball” her from the recording industry and sent her violent illustrations of a man and woman having sexual intercourse.

Miller said she started to receive disturbing e-mails after their 18-month relationship ended. Shaq, pictured above partying in a Dallas nightclub last June, has been ordered to stop all contact with Miller and must stay at least 200 yards away from her and her 19-month-old baby. O’Neal is scheduled to appear before a judge on Sept. 4. No word yet from Shaq’s camp.

Shaquille O’Neal and wife Shaunie have reconciled after he filed for divorce in September.

“Neither one of us could probably answer why we were getting one in the first place,” Shaunie told the Associated Press on Thursday.

Shaq, who in June blamed former Lakers teammate Kobe Bryant for the demise of his marriage in a disparaging  rap, filed papers last year stating that Shaunie was “secretive” with her finances while she claimed Shaq had caused her “emotional pain and embarrassment.”

Shaunie continued, “Things have been going so great, that someone actually had to remind us that ‘Hey, you do remember those papers are still there.’ Literally, it was days ago. So, we’ve agreed that before we leave Florida in a few days we’ll make sure that that’s gone away.”

Karrine “Superhead” Steffans doesn’t just shake her booty in your favorite rap videos. She’s also slept with most of your favorite rap stars. The list includes Lil’ Wayne, Method Man and even a few ringers like Shaquille O’Neal and Bill Maher. And her acrobatic tongue eventually earned her the nickname “Superhead.”

Steffans blew the lid off her love life in the memoir Confessions of a Video Vixen, which landed on bestseller lists in 2005. The pneumatic 25-year-old told of breathless encounters with DMX, Diddy, Jay-Z, Xzibit, Dr. Dre, Ice T, Usher, Bobby Brown and Vin Diesel during her years in Hollywood. Breathless, that is, until the morning after, when Steffans would discover that she was left with more crabs than self-respect.

In the sequel, The Vixen Diaries, Steffans was at it again, alleging that ex Darius Morgan cheated on her with Tyson Beckford. In his own tell-all published in 2008, Bobby Brown downplayed Steffans’ contributions to literature. “I’ve spent several nights at her house,” he wrote. “But she was only good for what her nickname stood for.” — Charles Bottomley

As the first NBA player drafted right out of high school, Kobe Bryant was living the epitome of a perfect life — Prom with Brandy! Hot teenage wife! $40 million a year in pay and endorsements! — when he suddenly and stupidly f*cked up all his fame and fortune in an instant. On July 18, 2003, while in Colorado for surgery, Kobe banged a 19-year-old former cheerleader working at his hotel. Shortly after the incident she came forward and charged the Lakers star with sexual assault, throwing a wrench into his perfect world.

Bryant admitted to the adultery, and — in the most pathetic and pricey attempt at an apology ever — bought his wife a $4 million 8-carat diamond ring so she could wear his shame on her finger. Everything from the victim’s semen-stained panties to Kobe’s kinky fetishes (such as grabbing the victim’s neck while penetrating her from behind, then asking permission to ejaculate on her face) was fair game in the trial. But the baller denied the charges of assault, and the case was dropped when the victim refused to testify. She later brought a civil suit against Kobe, which was “resolved to the satisfaction of both parties.” In other words, she got some cash ya’ll!

As the scandal dust settled, Kobe’s star rose again thanks to his MVP status and his feud with former Lakers teammate Shaquille O’Neal — and, of course, that massive diamond ring.
