Andy Samberg Gears Up To Host MTV Movie Awards

Saturday Night Live’s Andy Samberg is gettin’ psyched to host Sunday night’s MTV Movie Awards. “I listen to a lot of ‘Eye of the Tiger,’” he jokes to MTV News, about how he’s preppin’ for the big night. “I’m staying at a hotel, but I don’t care about the neighbors. I’ll just blast it out at 6 a.m.” While his comments are lighthearted, we imagine the star is taking his hosting duties seriously. After all, this is where the actor got his start, serving as a writer for the show in 2005 alongside Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, his partners in comedy crime. He says, “we wrote for Lindsay Lohan one year and Jimmy Fallon the next. Jimmy was actually the one who recommended us to SNL, so it’s a real full circle.”

Awww. But don’t let Samberg’s sentimental side fool you. His stint on the MTV stage is gonna be all about the funny stuff (Dick In a Box, Motherlover, Lazy Sunday - you know the drill) for which he and the Lonley Island gang are known. “It’s going to be action packed,” Samberg says about the Awards. “There’s going to be some surprises — nothing I can divulge, but it will involve celebrities. It’s going to be great. There’s going to be some pre-taped stuff, some digital shorts-style stuff, and a lot of fun collaborations.”

Check out the promo short Andy did with the adorable Rashida Jones above, and tune in to the MTV Movie Awards this Sunday night, at 9PM EST.

Interview: Jason Segel Wants A Man Date With Barack Obama

Jason Segel, who made a name for himself by starring on Judd Apatow’s cult TV hit Freaks & Geeks, has the same laid-back, California vibe that he exudes in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. He also has a razor-sharp wit. Maybe this is why he seems like a natural fit to co-star as Paul Rudd’s new Best Dude Forever in I Love You, Man — an exploration of male friendship that opens tomorrow (March 20). We spoke with Jason about the real-life nature of his man friends, whether he’s a “girlfriend guy” or a “guy’s guy” and what Hollywood hunk he’d most like to have a man date with. Answer: The First African-American President of the United States is more his type.

Scandalist: I Love You, Man has a hilarious cast, including you, Paul Rudd, Andy Samberg, Rashida Jones, Jon Favreau and Jaime Pressly. Which one of you was the “class clown” while filming the movie?

Jason Segel: I’d have to say Andy. Andy Samberg. He’s hilarious from the moment he arrives on set, which is 6 a.m., to the moment he leaves. But there was this one moment … Forgetting Sarah Marshall had just come out when they began filming I Love You, Man, and I was feeling a little down because Forbidden Kingdom had beat it by $1 million. A woman approached me on the way to set, and said: “I just need to tell you I saw the movie this weekend and I loved it.” When she walked away, Andy turned to me and said, “She thinks you’re Jet Li.”

Imagine Waking Up To This Every Morning

Despite not having a role in I Love You, Man, Jack Black not-so-coyly graced the premiere’s red carpet last night with his wacky facial expressions and noticeably pained wife, Tanya Haden. More toned-down and dapper on the red carpet was the cast, including Jason Segel, Paul Rudd, Rashida Jones, and Andy Samberg. See pictures of them below, as well as Elizabeth Banks donning a doily, Audrina Patridge looking vacant but pretty, and Haden resisting the urge to slap her husband.

Check back tomorrow for our interview with star Jason Segel.

Mark Wahlberg Has A Better Sense Of Humor Than We Thought

Mark Wahlberg plays a great bully. The Departed, I Heart Huckabees, Three Kings, Four Brothers—let him push people around and he’s hilarious. So more people should have realized that Wahlberg wasn’t really mad when he saw Andy Samberg’s hysterical “Mark Wahlberg Talks To Animals” skit on Saturday Night Live. Waxing nostalgic for Joe Piscopo? Telling Jimmy Kimmel he’s going to break Samberg’s nose? He’s not really steamed, folks. It’s an act.

How do we know? Because instead of breaking Samberg’s nose on SNL saturday, Wahlberg asked Amy Poehler, Josh Brolin (”You were the Goonies movie, right? I produce Entourage!”) and a live donkey to say hi to their mothers for him (sadly, he didn’t ask Sarah Palin). No word on whether Brolin has passed Wahlberg’s sentiments on to stepmother Barbra Streisand.
