Looks like those Megan Fox rumors were off the mark. Shia LaBeouf has been stepping out with new girlfriend Carey Mulligan, who we predict is going to be a big star. The British actress is soon to be seen in Brothers opposite Jake Gyllenhaal, is about to shoot Brighton Rock with Helen Mirren and has already been seen on the big screen in Public Enemies with Johnny Depp.

What was once an intimate geekapalooza has now evolved into a gathering of the hottest bodies in Hollywood. The beautiful people continue to flock to San Diego for this weekend’s annual Comic-Con, which celebrates the comic book’s contribution to mainstream culture. Zoe Saldana, Kristen Bell, Olivia Wilde, Audrina Patridge, Megan Fox, Cameron Diaz, and of course the cast of New Moon are some of the attendees heating things up. Often elusive but always gorgeous Johnny Depp even made a surprise appearance when friend and director Tim Burton presented their highly anticipated film, Alice in Wonderland. As rumors fly that Johnny Depp will play The Riddler in the next installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman series, Mickey Rourke seems to be a shoe-in for The Joker. Shoot, he wouldn’t even need much hair and make-up! Although clean-shaven, Mickey looked a bit straggly entering the Jean-Paul Gaultier show at Paris Fashion Week. Johnny Depp has a famously good professional relationship with Tim Burton, and he must get along well enough with the cast and crew of Pirates of the Caribbean to make three movies with them, but when it came time to work with Christian Bale, the two actors kept their distance from one another.

While working on Public Enemies, which comes out in theaters today, the actors barely talked to one another off camera. Bale says that when he met Depp on-set, that was the first time they had ever spoken. “We didn’t know each other in the slightest. In fact, I met him at the script reading. We chatted for five or 10 minutes. Then we met again on the set during our two scenes together.”

Since the two play rivals in the film (Depp plays John Dillinger and Bale plays Melvin Purvis, the FBI agent bent on killing Dillinger), Bale explained that his method of acting didn’t allow for a lot of socialization with his co-star. “I wish to not talk unless we’re doing the scene. I enjoy it that way. Johnny seemed happy to do it that way, too. So the answer is: No, we really didn’t get to know each other better between each take. So I guess I’ll have to wait and get to know Johnny Depp someday.”

There’s no arguing that Johnny Depp and Christian Bale are two of the sexiest and most talented actors in Hollywood. Last night they premiered their gangster flick, Public Enemies, in LA. While Johnny went for a tame, but very blue, version of his usually rebellious red carpet style, Christian donned a classic, albeit blasé, look.

Other stars who glam’d up for the premiere included Public Enemies co-star Marion Cotillard, Rosario Dawson, Amber Heard, and Leelee Sobieski.

Lucky you if you’re a waitress and Johnny Depp sits in your section! Apparently the star is quite generous, and recently tipped $4,000 on his dinner at Chicago steakhouse Gibsons.

Mohammed A . Sekhani, a veteran waiter at Chicago’s legendary steakhouse Gibsons, said, “Johnny and his party arrived just after 11:30pm at the restaurant and requested a private room. He had visited our restaurant several times before while he was filming Public Enemies and he promised me that he would return after the premiere.”

“He was in good spirits throughout the evening chatting with Mr. Mann and Miss Cotillard. He is a very soft spoken guy who is very charming and sweet – when I wait for him he doesn’t like to be too fussed over and is not in any way demanding. He may be one of the most famous actors in the world but he is a very humble guy and a really cool dude. Obviously, I was delighted with his tip but he has always been very generous.”

We’re not huge Tim Burton fans, but these new pictures from his upcoming adaptation of Alice In Wonderland have us lusting for more of the weird world he’s created for the film. Late actor Heath Ledger took a final bow at the Cannes Film Festival, when, at the end of the weekend screening of his final film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, a dedication read “A film from Heath Ledger and friends.”

Director Terry Gilliam said that Heath practically co-directed the film. “Heath was just brilliant at it. He got everybody else going. Everybody was just energized by Heath,” he said. “He was extraordinary. He was almost exhausting because he had so much energy.”
