Not Safe For Work

Some people take pills when they fly, but Jonathan Rhys Meyers medicates the old fashioned way before a flight, by getting stinking drunk. While waiting for a flight at Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport on Saturday, Rhys Meyers allegedly punched an employee at an airport bar because he was refused any more booze. After being cut off by his waiter, Rhys Meyers got into an argument with the bar’s manager and took a swing at another employee who intervened in the scuffle. He was placed in police custody for several hours and will have to appear at a tribunal to answer to the charges against him, which include assault and issuing death threats. Yikes.

You know that “going to rehab” has ceased to be anything unusual in the world of pop culture when someone famous checks out without ever having being noticed checking in. The Tudors star Jonathan Rhys Meyers has apparently left The Causeway rehab facility in Britain after checking in for his long-running alcohol problems, and is now back in L.A.

“He recognized that he needed help and hopefully now he is back on the straight and narrow. It is something that he finally accepted within himself that he has to deal with. [Jonathan] will continue to get help now and the people around him will work to keep him going on the right track,” reports a friend.

Sorry for not noticing you, Jonathan. But as an Irishman, it’s quite neat timing that you’re out in time for Paddy’s Day, no? Oh. Sorry again. [Photo: WENN]
